Emergency Veterinary Assistant
Seeking a full time ER Veterinary Assistant to join our Emergency Team at the Hope Advanced Veterinary Center. We need a highly motivated person who is an excellent team player. The applicant needs to be able to excel in a group setting, have good problem solving skills, is detailed oriented and has excellent communication skills. The candidate must love animals and be compassionate towards our patients and our clients.
Tasks include:
- Triage, examine, and treat patients under the direction of Licensed Veterinary Technicians, maintaining accurate records.
- Assist with medication administration and patient restraint.
- Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs.
- Operate and maintain hospital equipment.
- Fill prescriptions, administer medications, and ensure proper documentation and security of controlled drugs.
- Monitor and feed patients according to guidelines.
- Maintain cleanliness of the hospital and equipment.
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education, and/or experience.
- Minimum one year of veterinary experience.
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 Pounds and performing demanding tasks.
- Comfortable working with sick animals, hazardous materials, and cleaning chemicals.
- Knowledge of hospital procedures, treatment protocols; computer systems; and terminology used in a veterinary hospital.
- Flexible schedule including some weekends and holidays.
